Day 60

Back Up Next

-         Left Canada yesterday after we sadly concluded that it wasn’t wise to push Elbee up the mountains any further.

-         Goodbye Rocky Mountains.

-         We came back into the States very quickly after we had made our decision. At the border we had to be “examined by an agricultural officer. She took away all meet and tropical fruit. Mangoes and Avocadoes I had bought in Canada for Sushi making purposes…really annoying.

-         We went as far as Omak, WA a good forsaken place. It’s major business district was made up of a Walmart. It desolate ambiance was alleviated only slightly by the beautiful mountain ranges in the distance.

-         I actually went in to look for some things. On the way from Elbee to the store I caught a bright orange sunset, and  lingered between the cars to watch it set over the Walmart Mountains.

-         We left Omak this morning, NPR talking about 9/11, on route to Spokane, Washington States 2nd largest City.

-         From Omak we drove on toward the Grand Coulee Dam on the way to Spokane.

-         It is a quite impressive structure, except the weirdest part is that it is only used for peek needs…tell me that doesn’t have anything to do with political payoff…………………..

-         We had a little picnic after a tour of one of the turbine plants. I had prepared everything for a little walk to a nice area…we ended up in front of Elbee on a little patch of grass near the Dam. It was nice until a swarm of bees decided we were a good destination for their family picnic…

Here are some Dam pictures.

The whole Cooley Dam was pretty Dam good.

Good Dam!
We had a picnic... until the Dam bees came and chased us away.
We look dam small compared to the dam.
