Day 45

Back Up Next

-         Chris invited us to come over in the morning for Eggs Benedict and so we are back, yet again. He makes real Hollandaise and poached eggs…the Renaissance man par excellance!!!

-         I bring over a basket with dirty laundry like other people bring a hostess gift J and while the kids eat and play and the grown ups eat and play, my laundry is washing away in the basement…

-         Right before the kids start falling apart we say our good byes and head back to Elbee. Steve is deadly tired and settles down for a nap within minutes. Julia has been asking to have a picnic with her new picnic basket and so I pack some snacks for them and a blanket. What she really wants is to take off by herself, w/o me that is, but since Jonah decides he must go have a picnic as well, I am obliged to go along. We stay out at the park under a shady tree until all the food is gone and Julia needs to go pee. I feel like a tribe of Bedouins moving around with all our belongings wherever we go.

-         Anne mentioned the Washington State Fair on Friday night. It’s going on until Labor Day. We’ve been talking about going to see one for a while so we wake up Daddy and head east to Monroe.

-         It turns out to be quiet the large event. We are able to park Elbee on a lot a little walk away and if we want we can even stay overnight. By the time we get there it’s already 5ish and the prospect of not having to move tonight seems very nice. Steve spends an awful lot of money on tickets for rides for the kids. And I spend another five dollars on a carousel with real horses for Jonah b/c he is too small for most of the other rides.
