We make it to Seattle and meet up with Christopher
Goodwin. The traffic in Seattle is just unbelievable. There is
one big artery going into town from all points south, I 5, and
it’s a complete parking lot for no discernable reason at 10:30
in the morning.
-
Sitting at a wading pool watching the kids play and
splash. Made friends with a mom whose kids are doing the same.
Her little one is Jonah’s age, Tilly, and her older brother,
Sam, is almost exactly Lilli’s age.
-
The mother, Karen, is super nice and invited us over for
dinner. I can’t believe it and am sort of waiting for her to
talk about being born-again…
-
The people her a generally so nice…a guy on the street
whom I’d asked about the entrance for the playground helped me
up the steps with Jonah’s stroller..
-
Steve is back in the RV, working while we are waiting to
see what happens with the install.
-
When we go back the guys had worked out a plan to store
the RV near Fisherman’s Terminal, Seattle. We all decided to
have dinner there at a fish & chip place. And so we did. Chris
took the bus, I guess he didn’t trust Steve’s driving. Afterward
Steve told me that Chris used to be a race car driver for
Porsche – well, no surprise there. The entire contents of the
bus were flying around…and god help me, what a belligerent
driver…
-
At the restaurant a woman thought our table abandoned and
started cleaning up our cups and such…Chris got really angry…
-
Sometime later he told us how, while in Vietnam, he got
stabbed in the face while trying to calm down a fight – yeah
right…
-
In the meantime he takes my children off to feed the
ducks with crackers, I can see how he does that with his own
little daughter who is as old as Jonah…he talks with them and
jokes with them…very sweet…I can’t figure him out…
