Back Up Next

-         We are still here. Most noteworthy right now is that Chris and Forest agreed to come in today, it being Saturday and all.

-         Steve is being a dickhead but that is no news.

-         Last night we parked at my favorite park at View Ridge, where we had met up with Stefanie a few weeks earlier. It’s so quiet and peaceful there, and we needed a place that would let us be on Capitol Hill in short order…

-         After we had gone to sleep at around 11 pm, I hear music in my sleep. It’s getting louder, and I am hearing voices talking as if in front of the door…yelling. I realize I am not dreaming. There are people outside the bus. I can’t imagine what could be going on here at midnight. I wake Steve, he doesn’t care and rolls over. I hop out of bed and gingerly lift the front curtains, lest I be seen…I see it, but it still doesn’t make sense to me. Why on earth would there be a gaggle of teenagers out of the clear blue sky, sitting on the hoods of their cars, drinking beer, blaring their car stereos? I just can not believe it. And Steve is sleeping through it all! When he wakes up and says, “so what? I am not worried about it” (yeah, I can see that!) Lots more here....

-         The family went out early this morning. It was around 9:30 Am when I took the chickies to the coffee shop. We had bagels and the girls played and we read stories. We were the only ones in there so it was actually kind of nice and when it was time to leave everyone complained.

-         Today is the day!!! After an alarming vegetable flow failure yesterday, we seem to be in business tonight! At around 10:30 PM we can hear the engine revving in front of Chris’ shop. Again and again they push the engine but it compliantly goes along and does what it’s supposed to do! The air was thick with frustration before this breakthrough…it’s clear and crisp right now! Both Chris and Forest have little happy smiles on their faces. Forest’s pants are cut off at the knees, he spilled oil all over himself a little while ago…his shoes are so worn that the toes on both sides are poking out. His hair is disheveled, a small beard is sprouting on his chin. When we arrived six weeks ago I remember him clean shaven and properly clad…Chris, too, has looked better. His is running around in shorts with holes and inside out shirts…this project is taking a toll on all of us…
